Bennett’s is Proud to Work with These Incredible Local Non-Profit Organizations

As Charles Dickens once wrote, “no one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.” At Bennett’s Kitchen Bar Market, we believe that each of us has a duty to use our opportunities for the good of others, and we’re proud to collaborate with several local organizations as they support our community. Through a variety of initiatives, we are honored to highlight these incredible organizations and spread the word about their missions to our patrons.

Here are a few of the events and organizations with which the Bennett’s team has recently been involved:

Fairway to the Future

In July, we had the opportunity to support Grant Napear’s “Fairway to the Future” golf tournament. This annual event exclusively benefits The Future Foundation of Sacramento, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that helps low-income, 10th-grade students from at-risk homes and schools as they endeavor to become first-generation college graduates. Future Sacramento carefully selects local high school students who demonstrate significant academic potential, but who lack a college-graduate role model at home and the financial means for a college education. Eligible students may begin receiving scholarship funding for up to five years once enrolled in college. In addition, Future Sacramento provides mentoring, college application assistance, and financial aid advocacy in order to help students achieve their dream of being the first in their families to graduate college. Since 2010, Future Sacramento has provided over $625,000 in scholarship funding. To learn more about the Fairway to the Future tournament, visit http://futurefoundationsacramento.org/golf/

Placer SPCA

At Bennett’s, one of our highlights is our tantalizing cocktail menu. We’re particularly proud of our specialty beverage creation, the “Spicy Chihuahua.” In addition to being delicious, this refreshing, peppery tequila drink supports local animals in need—for each Spicy Chi sold, we donate $1 to the Placer SPCA. Since 1973, the Placer SPCA has been committed to improving the lives of companion animals and strengthening the human-animal bond. This organization—which is funded solely by donations, bequests, grants, and service fees—supports animals by ensuring that every adoptable companion animal finds a home, providing pet adoption counseling to the community, offering spay/neuter assistance and education, and much more. As of 2019, the Placer SPCA has received a four-star rating from Charity Navigator for the past 13 years. For more information, visit https://placerspca.org

Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce

Bennett’s was excited to participate in the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce’s 23rd Annual SPLASH event, which raised over $23,000 for the City of Roseville’s Youth Passport Program. In an effort to offer every local child the opportunity to participate in supervised recreation, the Youth Passport program provides Roseville residents who meet certain income eligibility guidelines with free or reduced-cost swimming lessons, summer camp, and other activities. Each year, local businesses like Bennett’s are integral to the success of the SPLASH event. Read more about this fun event at http://rosevillechamber.com/Making-a-SPLASH

We also recently provided catering for the Chamber of Commerce’s 3rd Quarter Business Showcase and Mixer, held at Bushnell Gardens in Granite Bay. We love supporting our local business community with our delicious food! To find out what the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce offers, visit https://rosevillechamber.com

With service to the community as one of our core values, Bennett’s Kitchen Bar Market has proudly supported numerous other local organizations, including the Sacramento LGBT Community Center, the Sierra College Athletic Department, Placer County Public Schools, the American Heart Association, the giving alliance supporting veterans, and Catrina’s Closet, an organization that purchases backpacks for local schoolchildren who cannot afford them. By working with these amazing groups, we are honored to help build an even stronger, more prosperous community. To learn more about what we value, visit https://bennettskitchen.com/about/.

“Really Good Wood” Handcrafted Charcuterie Boards Now Sold at Bennett’s

If you’ve ever enjoyed a scrumptious steak at Bennett’s Kitchen Bar Market, you may have noticed our gorgeous wooden serving boards. We are proud to source these boards from a local vendor called Really Good Wood. In fact, we love Really Good Wood products so much that we are now selling their charcuterie boards in our retail display! Handcrafted from Bastogne Walnut and Claro Black Walnut, these boards incorporate locally sourced reclaimed urban lumber.

Based in Rocklin, the artisans at Really Good Wood have been creating beautiful customized pieces for over 35 years. Their selection of products ranges from hand-carved wooden spoons and charcuterie boards to toys and elevated stands for pet bowls. Really Good Wood also crafted the vintage crates that are used to display baked goods at the Bennett’s coffee bar! In addition to Bastogne Walnut and Claro Black Walnut, Really Good Wood utilizes Elm, English Walnut, Maple, Cottonwood, and other varieties of locally sourced wood, as well reclaimed wine crates. Each piece is carefully designed to showcase the natural beauty of the raw materials.

In addition to sharing our passion for quality, Really Good Wood also shares Bennett’s commitment to serving our community. They often donate the labor and materials used in creating their elevated pet bowls, with proceeds from sales paid directly to the Placer SPCA. Bennett’s also supports the Placer SPCA with a $1 donation for each Spicy Chihuahua cocktail that we sell. We love helping this important non-profit organization improve the lives of companion animals, and are thrilled to partner with a local business like Really Good Wood that reflects our values.
